These terms govern your use of the Tend app. By using Tend you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
Who runs Tend
Tend is operated by Sara Meindl, Perchtoldsdorf, Austria. Contact: hello@tendgratitude.app.
Apple's licence terms also apply
Tend is distributed through the App Store under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which governs your licence to use the app itself. These terms cover the service we provide on top of it. Where the two conflict on licensing, Apple's agreement wins.
Who can use Tend
Tend is for people aged 16 and over. By using it you confirm you meet that age.
What Tend is, and what it is not
Tend is a journalling app built around gratitude practice. Its suggestions, affirmations and reflections are produced by a language model from what you tell it.
Tend is not therapy, counselling or medical care, and nothing in it is medical, psychological or clinical advice. Gratitude practice is well studied as a wellbeing habit; that research is about the practice, not about this app, and we make no claim that Tend will produce any particular outcome for you. If you are struggling, please talk to a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services.
Because the text is generated, it will sometimes be wrong, awkward or not what you meant. It is a prompt for your own reflection, not a statement of fact about your life.
Your content is yours
Everything you write in Tend belongs to you. It is stored on your device. We claim no ownership and no licence to it beyond what is needed to run the features you use — described in the Privacy Policy. We do not read it, publish it or share it.
Subscriptions
- Tend offers an auto-renewing subscription. The price, period and any free trial are shown before you buy, in your local currency.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings, not here — we cannot cancel for you. Settings has a shortcut to the right screen.
- Any free trial applies once per Apple ID, and Apple decides eligibility. Starting a subscription forfeits any unused part of a free trial.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms. We cannot issue them.
- Everything you have already written stays readable whether or not you subscribe. A subscription pays for writing new material.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Use Tend for anything unlawful.
- Try to extract our credentials, bypass usage limits, or send automated traffic to our servers.
- Reverse engineer the app except where the law says you may.
Availability
Tend depends on services we do not control, including Apple's and OpenAI's. Features that need them will not work when they are unavailable. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue the service entirely we will say so on this site, and your entries remain on your device either way.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Tend is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected. Nothing in these terms removes protections that the law of your country of residence gives you and does not allow to be waived.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. Continuing to use Tend after a change means accepting the new version; if you do not accept it, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Austrian law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you may also rely on the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.
